Appointment of Executive General Management – Marketing

Whitehaven Coal Limited (ASX Code: WHC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Knights as Executive General Manager – Marketing, effective from 18th August 2014. This is a senior role in Whitehaven, reporting to the Managing Director.

Mr Knights replaces Mr Patrick Markey who has recently resigned from the position.

Mr Knights joins Whitehaven from Peabody Energy where he was recently the VP Sales, Marketing and Logistics based in Newcastle and responsible for the sales of thermal coal from Peabody’s Australian operations. Mr Knights has extensive experience in coal marketing and logistics gained over a number of years working for Peabody and previously Rio Tinto.

Mr Knights holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from the University of Queensland.

Paul Flynn, Managing Director and CEO of Whitehaven said “As EGM – Marketing, Scott will be responsible for marketing all of Whitehaven’s coal production with the key task of expanding our market penetration with the high quality production to come from the Maules Creek project.
