Statutory Mechanical Engineer – Open Cut Operations
An opportunity exists for a Statutory Mechanical Engineer to join our Maintenance Team based in Gunnedah. You will be accountable for ensuring all Whitehaven open cut operations are compliant with New South Wales Work Health and Safety (Mines) Legislation, Australian standards and best engineering practises.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible to implement the Whitehaven Coal Mechanical Engineering Management Plan, develop and review the standards, mechanical engineering practice and procedures for the life cycle of mechanical plant and installations at the mine and to supervise the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of the mechanical plant at the mine
The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications and qualities:
Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
Certificate of Competence in Mine Mechanical Engineer or Registration on the National Professional Engineers Register (NPER)
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the coal mining industry
4 years’ experience in a similar role
A sound knowledge of current coal mining legislation
