Whitehaven Coal is one of Australia's leading independent coal producer operating in the Gunnedah Coal Basin (NSW). Whitehaven operates three open cut coal mines, one underground coal mine and is currently developing the Maules Creek coal project.
Maules Creek is a large open cut operation with an expected mine life of over 30 years and a ROM production rate of about 13 Mtpa.

Whitehaven is now seeking a highly skilled CHPP Superintendent for the Maules Creek coal processing plant. This will be a dynamic role where the successful applicant will be involved with the construction and commissioning of the plant through to its ultimate operation.
The CHPP Superintendent will need:
To demonstrate visible safe work practices and a commitment to safety in the workplace
A high level of both maintenance and operational exposure
Experience with high volume stockpile management
Ability to develop complex operational systems
Well-developed planning and work management skills, and the ability to work autonomously
Involvement in hazard identification and risk management processes
Superior team leadership skills
The role reports to the CHPP Manager, but during the development stage there will be a matrix of working relationships with Infrastructure and Maintenance functions in the Project. As a result the ability to work flexibly under pressure, and to manage competing work demands will be key attributes for the successful candidate.
