Coal quality is typically low to medium ash, low sulphur, low phosphorus and medium to high volatile PCI and thermal coal.

Mining Operations
Werris Creek is mined using truck and excavator producing up to 2.0 million tonnes per annum as raw coal for the export market.
The coal is transported directly by rail from Werris Creek to the Port of Newcastle.
Around 70 people are employed on site.

Remarks
In the quarter ended September 2011, New South Wales Government approval for extension of Werris Creek was received. The new approval allows production of up to 2.5Mtpa for 20 years.
